Apple, the land of make-believe

I’m Calling It Now.

Let me preface this by saying that I don’t know what I’m talking about. Cool? Cool.

My call on Apple’s next big launch? An iPhone/iMac cross-breed tablet computer. A full-size touchscreen keyboard. Accelerometers, EDGE/EVDO units built in, GPS system. Partnerships with Adobe and Wacom, yielding pressure-sensitive write-on capabilities. Roughly 8.5″ × 11″. $2,500.

Come on, Steve. Make it happen.

Well there is something that meets all of those demands minus the EDGE/EVDO called the ModBook -> http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/01/11/unofficial_mac_tablet_draws_record_crowd_at_macworld_high_res_photos.html

Russell -

I saw the ModBook when I was “researching” this post. It looks pretty awesome. It’s neat, too, that people are doing aftermarket tweaks on Apple products. I knew about iPod skins and whatnot, but the ModBook is a pretty neat enhancement.

What I’d love to see, though, (and maybe the ModBook is like this) is the super-glossy screen of the iMacs in tablet form. It looks like the ModBooks are a normal LCD. Maybe I’m misreading that. Also, the sweet iPhone touchpad keyboard. I remember you were underwhelmed by the keyboard after BarCamp. I’m not the hugest fan of it, either, in its small format. But imagine a full-size version. (Of course, maybe the ModBook approximates this somehow?)

In other news, this comment form needs some tweaking of its own. Yow.

[…] The only thing that would make this better would be sticking all of this on an iTablet. […]
